In 2010, Starbucks started to offer late night opening in the US, offering customers evening menus and serving wine and beer. The brand – along with Prêt à Manger – is now trialling extended hours in the UK. The food critic Jay Rayner recently experienced evening service for the first time and lambasted it as ‘among the most depressing 10 minutes of my life’, stating that ‘going to a branch of Prêt à Manger for a classy night out of prosecco drinking is a bit like going to a brothel in search of true love.

Lisa Murkowski Experiences a Rarity for Senators: A Mid-Campaign Approval Bump

Sen. Lisa Murkowski is experiencing a rarity at home compared to most other senators: an improved job approval rating. According to Morning Consult Political Intelligence data, the Alaska Republican, who is facing a fierce primary challenge over her vote to convict former President Donald Trump in his second impeachment trial, has seen her popularity improve more than almost any other senator throughout Joe Biden’s presidency.  Murkowski’s improvement raises her approval rating to a level similar to many of the most vulnerable Democratic incumbents facing re-election this year, none of whom made the list of America’s 10 most popular senators.

Majority of Voters Back Term Limits for Supreme Court Justices

Sixty-one percent of voters support term limits for Supreme Court justices, including two-thirds of Democrats and 58 percent of Republicans. Twenty percent overall oppose such limits, according to the survey of 1,991 registered voters. “It’s important to have justices who are reflective of the population they’re bringing judgment upon,” said Gabe Roth, executive director of the group Fix the Court, in a Tuesday interview. “Before Kennedy retired, we still had justices who were appointed during the Reagan administration.

Men And Women Divided On Nuclear Power

A separate survey question reveals three possible explanations as to what’s driving female voter’s concerns over building more nuclear facilities: trepidations over storing nuclear waste, the risk for a disaster or meltdown, and the availability of “better” energy alternatives.“It doesn’t take a brain surgeon to figure that one out,” said Linda Mayrand, a survey participant from Melbourne, Florida, “there are better alternatives.” Mayrand said she would never live within the Nuclear Regulatory Commission designated evacuation zones, areas that span a 10-mile radius from a nuclear power plant.
